USM to hold literacy conference
GEORGE TOWN: Universiti Sains Malaysia's School of Languages, Literacies and Translation (SoLLaT) is organising a three-in-one Asian Literacy Conference in October.
This is in conjunction with the 7th International Conference on Literacy (LITCON) and the 4th International Language Learning Conference (ILLC).
It is being organised jointly with the university's international literacy research unit, the National Higher Education Research Institute and the state Education Department.

The conference will take place from Oct 11 to 13 at Berjaya George Town Hotel here with the theme "Language and Literacy in the Local and Global Contexts: Success Stories and Unfolding Narratives".
Participants can share their success and experiences in language and literacy education. They are also encouraged to hold discussions and critiques on issues related to the development of language and literacy such as sustainable education, sustainable digital literacy, teachers, learners and literacy practices.
About 250 people from Malaysia and abroad are expected to take part.
