KUALA TERENGGANU: Terengganu will send a delegation to Cuba to access potential investment and bilateral cooperation.
Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said said cooperation in biotechnology was a focus.
“Cuba is a country which is very advanced in biotechnology.
“We hope to forge better cooperation with the Caribbean nation,” he told reporters after chairing the state executive council meeting here yesterday.
He said representatives from Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (Unisza) and Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) would be included in the delegation.
Cuban Ambassador to Malaysia Carlos Amores said he came to Terengganu to personally invite Ahmad Said to his country.
“Malaysia and Cuba have forged good relations at many levels.
“But there is always room for improvement,” he said.
He added that Cuba had many requirements in the tourism sector.
“We still need a lot of hotels and facilities in order to attract more tourists to the country.
“We also have some 30,000 foreign students in Cuba, so education is also a potential field,” he added.
